Continuing our series of blogs highlighting our teams, this month we meet Ella and Beth who are part of our Business Development team in Glasgow.
Beth Robertson and Ella Piscopo both work in our Glasgow office, Beth looks after the East and Southside while Ella manages the West and North of the city. Find out more about what they do day to day and how they like to unwind at the weekends.
Describe a typical day in the Business Development Team.
In a typical day we’re busy contacting prospects either by phone, email, networking events or getting out of the office to drop into businesses in our areas. Completing a new client induction or two, when we sign up a new client we complete an induction to make sure the service is right from day one. Signing a new client is always the best part of the day!
We’re a close knit team, we eat lunch together every day and have a hyper fixation at the moment for Lentil soup. Sometimes our office manager Donna brings in homemade treats and we can’t help ourselves but have 1 or 5!
Favourite part of the job?
Our favourite part of the job is definitely winning a new client and helping them to solve any recycling issues that they might have, such as contamination or overflowing bins.
And the most challenging?
Conveying the sustainable message, the biggest part of our job is helping to reduce carbon and businesses waste. Whilst we do sell bins, mostly we are trying to sell the sustainable message, which can sometimes be hard in the current economic climate.
Favourite client?
Beth: G41 bar, they are an up and coming bar in Shawlands with innovative ideas and it is good to see new businesses opening up in Glasgow, especially after Covid.
Ella: The Haberdashery, I love the business model and the fact that it is such an open space, both Nikki and Afton are fantastic to work with.
What’s your top environmental or recycling tip?
RECYCLE FOOD WASTE! Food waste is the number one contributor to carbon emissions, it is so important to recycle your food waste, even if it is just small amounts, every little helps towards reducing carbon outputs.
And finally –
What do you like doing after hours?
Ella: I love the gym, I am trying to run more and hopefully will be able to run the great Scottish run in Glasgow in October. I am an absolute foodie, I love cooking at home and trying new recipes, every Sunday I make soup for the week.
Beth: I just got married and moved house, so getting to spend time with my new husband and home.
